| dc.description.abstract | This paper aims to explore the relationship between Social AnxietyDisorder (SAD) and No Mobile Phobia (Nomophoia). The paper uses primary data collected from self-administered questionnaires. The total valid respondents were 133 undergraduate students from Communication College at King Khalid University(KKU). SPSS was used for the analysis. The participants in this study exhibited a moderate level of SAD and nomophobia. Furthermore, there is a significant relationship between SAD and nomophobia. All the components of nomophobia are significantly related to SAD expect for access to information. The study concludes that students with SAD tend to suffer from nomophobia too. The study is exploratory with small sample size. Thus, the results cannot be generalized .The present study has several implications. Firstly, students with SAD tend to suffer nomophobia. Thus, nomophobia can be one of the new symptoms of SAD. Secondly, the prevalence of SAD and nomophobia can affect students’ quality of life. Thus it is recommended to establish a counseling center to tackle SAD and nomophobia in the early stage. The paper may be first to explore the relationship between SAD and nomophobia in the Saudi Arabian context. Keywords: Nomophobia, social phobia, social, Anxiety, Disorder, Saudi Arabia, students. | |
